Biography

Born and raised in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Majestik Freedom is an artist, educator, culture bearer, entrepreneur, and passionate volunteer with ancestry from St. Kitts and Nevis and Dominica. Majestik holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of the Virgin Islands in Interdisciplinary Studies in Fine Arts and Secondary Teacher Education. Majestik aspires to be a highschool principal and build a Fine Arts School for the Virgin Islands.

Majestik enjoys dancing, singing, and watching anime.

With over a decade of community service in cultural arts, domestic violence and sexual assault work, Majestik is an avid volunteer with organizations like the Virgin Islands Children’s Museum and We Grow Food, Inc. conducting free facepainting and museum tours. The performing arts have been a recurring theme in their life from their early years as a Pistarkle Theatre child actor to their collegiate pursuits at UVI. They creatively made their way dancing with the UVI Buccaneer Twirlettes and the UVI Bamboula Ensemble, singing with Harmonic Voicez, arranging music for UVI’s steelpan ensemble, and gaining certification in mental health first aid graduating with 11+ clubs and organizations under their belt.

After hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017, two category 5 storms that devastated the US Virgin Islands, Majestik was introduced to fine arts schools and rediscovered a love for theatre while continuing education in Maryland, US. They returned to St. Thomas with a reinvigorated passion for arts in education. As a pageant enthusiast, Majestik has vied for about 6 titles including Little Miss Virgin Islands, Miss Children, Youth, and Families at Risk (Miss CYFAR), Miss University of the Virgin Islands Ambassador, St. Thomas Ambassadorial Carnival Queen, Miss Jaycees Caribbean Queen, and Miss Caribbean Universe with platforms surrounding arts and culture. Their diverse skill set has set the stage for employment opportunities as a sales associate, summer camp instructor, vegan sous chef, pirate actress, treasure hunt guide, and owner of a thriving mobile hair braiding and loc styling business.

Majestik was awarded an honorary mention at the NAACP ACT-SO for Contemporary Dance in Maryland, USA 2018. They have served as a board member of the Arts Living Learning Community at UVI, a judge for the Teen Dating Violence Campaign and the Youth Art Competition, and a volunteer for The Art Exchange hosting various workshops and public events, including Art in the Street.

Majestik Freedom Estrada-Petersen is filled with a passion for art, a vision for teaching, and a dedication to cultural preservation; they have an entrepreneurial spirit and a love for volunteering.  Eager for the future, they remain committed to personal and educational growth, proudly representing the US Virgin Islands—locally and abroad.
